Phelan, Garrett
1965 Dublin, lives in Dublin (Ireland).

venue: soto del Aquarium

Lung Love (2004) is situated in an abandoned carpentery workshop in the historic port district of San Sebastian. The second installment in a series by Garrett Phelan, the project illustrates the processes through which ideas or beliefs enter into society, from the level of the official to the subversive. A sequence of quickly rendered, drawings on the walls create an open-ended narrative inspired by a disparate collection of inconclusive thoughts, ideas and facts. In a bombardment of visual information, Phelan’s sketches become complex theoretical diagrams exploring metaphors with connections to a range of subjects including breathing, health, electromagnetics, and manufactured energy.
