Stroj, Misha
1974 Ljubiana (Slovenia), lives in Vienna (Austria).

venue: Koldo Mitxelena

Treating sculpture as a testing ground for philosophical experiments, Misha Stroj works on installations and constructions, which manifest themselves as material incarnations of absurd and yet maniacally precise theorems and speculations. Having reduced art, reality and his own practice to an arbitrary set of 181 problems and questions, Stroj proceeds with endless analyses, combinations, and translations that result in a coherent and yet open-ended system of doubts and momentary solutions. Merging linguistics, mathematics and religion, his works operate as temporary autonomous zones of meaning in which objects and materials struggle to find a precarious balance between their rough physicality and their intellectual, imaginary counterpart.
