Tuttofuoco, Patrick
1974 Milan, lives in Milan (Italy).

venue: exteriors

A frivolous sense of play and a yearning for public interaction lay the groundwork for Patrick Tuttofuoco’s practice. His installations are often conceived as materializations of the dreams of small communities and groups of friends. Whether customising vehicles according to arbitrarily specific requirements or building giant toys for eternal teenagers, Tuttofuoco strips items of their defining purpose and redirects their function into the realm of entertainment. For Manifesta5, he produced a series of publicly accessible bicycles designed according to the desires of a group of friends from the Hodeiertz choir in Tolosa (the former capital of the Basque region of Guipúzcoa). Tuttofuoco’s bikes carry billboards announcing possible encounters and fictional love stories between private citizens and public icons, as a playful look at a new possible future.
