in Berlin. After receiving the diploma, in 2000, worked among
others Munich offices, for Prof. Otto Steidle and Laundau+Kindelbacher.
In 2002 started studying at the Berlage with the support of
a DAAD scholarship, where she has been developing a study on
architectural interventions operating as information mediators,
which reflect and interact with all the communication processes
among the citizens. That means a very flexible almost breathing
structure can be established in urban focuses. These interactions
are proposed generating mirroring processes that activate participation
and communication in public space within a City.

2003

Berlage Institute in 2002 where she has been developing her
course researching on the subject of architecture as an element
not to be made but to be discovered through the study of the
different stimuli produced by the city and its individuals
(such as the space-time and its ambiance). This study is an
approach to fields of observation that until recently where
considered not relevant to architecture but have a great deal
of information and methodologies useful to the practice.
Monica Villate has been featured in publications such as ‘FiveMinutesCity’ – a
book on master class with Winy Maas, 2002 – and A+U Magazine
in 2003. Work shown at Rotterdam Architecture Biennale and the
